Every few months, The Container Store removes the fixtures in the center of its stores to make room for new, oftentimes seasonal, campaign fixtures. Due to the lack of on-site storage, The Container Store needed a solution – where and how to store campaign fixtures during brief periods of displacement.

During the Halloween season traveling retailers set up shop from September through November in malls, shopping centers, even warehouses. They then stock those areas with everything trick-or-treaters big and small could need. After the season, they pack it all up and store the remaining inventory until the next year. So a company that can help them get into stores, set up shop, as well as pack up and store inventory, faster and more cost effectively is ideal.

PODS helps restaurant chain refresh their image across the country by enabling a major renovation that didn’t require any downtime.
An American casual dining restaurant chain operating hundreds of locations across the country.
A nationwide casual dining restaurant chain was implementing a massive image update. This included the complete interior remodeling of over 800 locations. This renovation required replacing tables, artwork, menus, flatware, signage and more. The decision was made to refresh 200 stores per quarter, with each renovation taking between two and three months. Management needed to find a way to keep store refurbishment items on-site without disrupting day-to-day business or having to temporarily close their doors.
After carefully reviewing the chain’s needs, PODS supplied one to two containers to each location to act as temporary on-site storage. PODS dedicated client service agents coordinated all bookings and arrivals on specified days within three-hour windows. The ambient light provided by the PODS design as well as ground floor access made restaurant employee’s job easier and alleviated workers compensation concerns. In addition, PODS containers not only provided housing for new inventory but also were a turnkey solution for the removal of old inventory.
The refresh process was a huge success, with doors staying open during the renovation, so no revenue was lost. Every single container across the country was delivered on time. And having the containers onsite gave restaurant staff the ability to load and unload as needed. As the chain’s Director of Facilities said, “PODS solution allowed us the flexibility to access our new items when we needed them and even store excess or old inventory.” With the success of this process, PODS has been re-engaged for on-going projects.
